On June 15, 2021, the press conference for the 25th China International Software Expo (hereinafter referred to as "Software Expo") was held in Beijing. This year's Software Expo is hosted by the China Electronics Information Industry Association, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, and Hangzhou Municipal People's Government, and will be held from August 26 to 28 at the Baima Lake International Convention and Exhibition Center in Binjiang District, Hangzhou.
The Software Expo has been successfully held for 24 sessions, playing an important role in promoting enterprise exchanges and cooperation, market competition, brand enhancement, software industry innovation and development, and international cooperation. It has become an important platform for promoting the development of China's software industry. This year's Software Expo will set a new record, with an exhibition area exceeding 20,000 square meters. Industry leaders, software cities, software parks, characteristic and demonstration software colleges, foreign-funded enterprises, internationally renowned institutions, and international industry organizations will appear at this exhibition. Industry leaders, well-known experts, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and international friends will share their insights and exchange ideas. It will also bring together well-known domestic and international brands and innovative products of the year.
The theme of this year's Software Expo is "Software Empowering the Digital Future." Multiple activities are planned, including exhibitions, interactive experiences, exciting competitions, achievements releases, and parallel forums. The exhibitions include eight themed sections: Software Empowerment: Comprehensive Achievements; Software Empowerment: Digital Reform; Software Empowerment: Information Innovation; Software Empowerment: Open Source Innovation; Software Empowerment: Industry Transformation; Software Empowerment: Digital Life; Software Empowerment: Emerging Technologies; and Software Empowerment: International Cooperation. These sections will showcase software empowerment across industries such as manufacturing, power, finance, and energy, highlighting its critical role and value in driving the transformation and upgrading of key sectors. They will demonstrate software applications in digital transportation, digital healthcare, digital sports, digital media, smart homes, and other areas, highlighting its importance in people's daily lives. In addition, a "Digital Reform Themed Exhibition Area," a "New Energy and Intelligent Connected Vehicle Corporate Image Exhibition Area," and a "Smart Interactive Experience Exhibition Area" will be added.
During the Software Expo, several industry achievements will be released, including the "Annual Software and Information Technology Service Enterprise Competitiveness Report and Top 100 Enterprises," "Annual Excellent Software Innovation Products," and the "Software Expo Exhibitor Product Awards." More than 20 parallel forums and one main forum will be held, focusing on hot topics such as digital reform, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and big data. A "Software Night" will also be held, highlighting the industry ceremony.
This year's Software Expo closely follows the "14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development," the recent key tasks of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the industrial development ideas of the host city. It focuses on the core value of software in assisting digital transformation, promoting the digital economy, leading innovative development, and ensuring national security. It showcases the new characteristics, models, and formats of software industry development, reflecting the "digital" concept and demonstrating high-end, professional, interactive, and international characteristics. Adhering to the principle of "government platform, association facilitation, enterprise-led, market operation," it aims to support high-quality development of China's software industry.
Currently, China is continuously promoting the advanced development of industrial foundations and the modernization of industrial chains, accelerating digital development, and strengthening the supply of key software, with the software industry maintaining growth. Since the beginning of this year, China's software and information technology service industry has continued its stable recovery trend, with business income maintaining rapid growth, total profit growth slowing, and software exports growing steadily. The application of new generation information technologies such as cloud services and big data services is accelerating. From January to April, China's software industry achieved software business revenue of 2.5719 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 25.0%, a decrease of 1.5 percentage points from the growth rate in the first three months, and a compound annual growth rate of 11.7% over the past two years. The industry achieved total profits of 288.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20.5%. From January to April, the software industry achieved exports of US$14.9 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14.5%.
In recent years, Zhejiang has attached great importance to the development of the software industry, with prominent industry characteristics. Using digital reform as a fulcrum, it has continuously leveraged various aspects of economic and social fields. Through the application of digital technologies, digital thinking, and digital cognition, it has carried out a comprehensive and systematic reshaping of the institutional mechanisms, organizational structures, methods and processes, and tools of provincial governance.
As a "National Software City," Hangzhou is at the forefront of the country in software-empowered digital transformation and the promotion of integrated innovation. Software applications have penetrated into all aspects of economic life, with prominent industrial advantages in cloud computing, big data, the Internet of Things, and mobile payments. It is at the forefront of the country in e-commerce, financial taxation, industrial control, and security monitoring, providing strong technical support for Hangzhou's goal of becoming the "No. 1 Digital Economy City in China" and the full implementation of its "New Manufacturing Plan."
Hangzhou High-tech Zone was established in 1990. It is one of the first batch of national high-tech industrial development zones approved by the State Council, a national autonomous innovation demonstration zone, and has been included in the national sequence for creating world-class high-tech parks. For many years, Hangzhou High-tech Zone (Binjiang) has adhered to independent innovation and independent cultivation, creating a complete digital economy industry chain. The added value of the core digital economy industry accounts for more than 70% of GDP. The comprehensive evaluation of the digital economy has ranked first in the province for many consecutive years. A total of 57 listed companies have been cultivated. There are a number of world-renowned companies such as Hikvision, NetEase, Alibaba, Dahua, H3C, and Hengsheng, gathering 10 of the top 100 software companies nationwide and 40 key software and integrated circuit design companies within the national planning layout, accounting for 70% of the provincial total, with a development level ranking among the top in the country.
This Software Expo is co-organized by the National Engineering Research Center for Industrial Information Security, Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, and Hangzhou High-tech Zone (Binjiang) Management Committee and government. The official website (www.cisexpo.com) and WeChat official account have been officially launched. Registration for exhibitors, visitors, and reporters has officially started.
